What are the Fees and Payments
1. How frequently are sessions scheduled?
- How often you meet with the therapist or analyst is determined primarily by
the individual’s needs and the process of growth or change.
- Initially, or in times of particular growth or crisis, sessions may be
scheduled once or twice per week.
- Clients working with specific dreams or images may schedule sessions some
weeks apart, as insights or questions emerge. Sometimes a particular dream is
disturbing or enlightening, and a session is scheduled to process that dream
only.
- Most typically, an ongoing therapeutic process will involve sessions 2 -3
times per month.
- Always, you can expect that frequency of sessions will be determined by
client and therapist together, based on individual needs and therapeutic
guidance.

2. How long do sessions last?
- A full hour is typical, although this also is based on individual needs and
process.
- The initial session is usually scheduled for one and one-half hours, and
some analytical sessions may also require more time than one hour.
- Kathleen allows sufficient time between appointments scheduled during her
work day to allow full attention to be given to specific therapeutic needs. You
can expect this to be discussed openly and directly.

3. What if I don’t have dreams, or don’t remember my dreams?
- While dreamwork has traditionally been a primary means for exploring
unconscious dynamics or generating alternative attitudes and behaviors, there
are many other ways to tend to the needs of the psyche.
- Small segments of dreams images, or pictures, music, memories, words that
stand out from conversations – any of these can be used to activate unconscious
material or provide insight for growth and change.
- Other methods, such as ACTIVE IMAGINATION or
SANDPLAY can also be
used to enhance or to activate dreaming.
- Also, when one sets out to respond to calls from the body or psyche to
begin looking at things in a different way, dreams will come. Journaling in
general, or specifically beginning a DREAM JOURNAL, will often create a mind set
which encourages memory of dreams.

4. Is Kathleen available for speaking engagements?
- Kathleen is available, on a limited basis, to speak to small groups with an
interest in DREAMWORK or other related topics. She has presented short programs
to clubs and and organizations, as well as longer presentations to groups or
classes with special interest in JUNGIAN PSYCHOLOGY.
- Short presentations are occasionally given free of charge, or by donation
only, to promote the profession.
- Longer presentations involve a fee, usually
hourly, which can be negotiated at the time of contact.
- IF YOU HAVE INTEREST IN A PARTICULAR TOPIC AND WISH TO GATHER YOUR
OWN GROUP,
please contact Kathleen with your idea and she will work with you to generate a
program.

5. What can I expect in a Sandplay session?
- Sandplay is almost always used as an adjunct to other kinds of therapeutic
work. You will be in a room with a tray of dry sand and a tray of wet sand. You
will be given the opportunity to "create a world" or to "create any image which
seems to come to you."
- The sand itself is manipulated to create shapes, lines, or "landscapes."
- Sometimes you will feel that the resulting image stands on its own. More
often you will choose from a large variety of objects to create a scene in your sandtray. These include natural items (e.g. rocks or shells), toy human figures
- both historical and contemporary - miniature buildings or other structures,
mythological figures, or miniature animals.
- The therapist will listen and observe, and ask very few, if any, questions.
If you wish to comment on feelings about individual objects, or about the
process itself, you will be heard and understood. Often the experience is
largely silent or even meditative.
- The intent is NOT to create a "work of art"; rather it is to allow the
psyche a rare opportunity to express itself in a quiet and respectful way –
uncommon in our time.

6. What are the Fees and Payments
I prefer to receive payment in full at the time of service. I realize this is
not always possible, though, and special arrangements may be made. However, it
is essential that individual needs for special arrangements be clearly stated
and discussed with the therapist. Thus,
- I require payment at the time of service unless other arrangements have
clearly been made.
- A monthly statement will be sent.
Many insurers request more information regarding sessions than I am
comfortable releasing. Monthly statements will include the minimum information
required by most insurance companies to file a claim for counseling services
- YOU MUST FILE YOUR OWN CLAIM.
Also, some insurances may not pay for the services. This is one reason I keep
my fees reasonable and affordable.
